Tie Rod Cylinder FAQs
What is a tie rod cylinder?
A tie rod cylinder uses external tie rods to secure the cylinder end caps and barrel assembly. This construction is widely used for industrial hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and supports serviceable, configurable designs.
What is the difference between hydraulic and pneumatic tie rod cylinders?
Hydraulic cylinders use pressurized fluid and are generally selected when an application requires higher force. Pneumatic cylinders use compressed air and are commonly used when air power fits the required motion, speed, and force.
Does Milwaukee Cylinder offer NFPA tie rod cylinders
Yes. Milwaukee Cylinder offers multiple tie rod cylinder series with standard NFPA mounting styles, including hydraulic and pneumatic options.
Does Milwaukee Cylinder offer metric tie rod cylinders?
Yes. Series MH is Milwaukee Cylinder’s metric hydraulic tie rod cylinder line and meets ISO Standard 6020/2 160 bar series requirements, with working pressures up to 210 bar.
How do I choose the right Milwaukee Cylinder series?
Start with the application’s power source, operating pressure, dimensional or mounting standard, bore and stroke requirements, environment and any special performance needs. The 3D Configurator can help identify available configurations, and Milwaukee Cylinder can provide application support for more complex requirements.
Can Milwaukee Cylinder support specialized tie rod cylinder applications?
Milwaukee Cylinder offers specialty technologies and application options including ARC™ recirculating technology, position-sensing capabilities, high-heat solutions, integrated counterbalance valves and cylinder accessories. Contact Milwaukee Cylinder to discuss application-specific requirements.
